The very first, unforgettable beer that I have drank was Desperados. It means that my „baptism by fire” wasn’t very manlike. So let’s just move on to the next milestone which was Ciechan Miodowy (honey). I remember the surprised look on my friends’ faces when I mentioned some merits of Ciechan. Responses were varied; beginning with some disbelief connected with the high cost (as for this time being), through girls’ approval and ending on astonishment of the uglier part of society. “Which beer does include honey, for God’s sake?!” Maybe if it hadn’t been for that honey creature drunk in the night on the backyard’s bench, I wouldn’t have sought neither anything new nor better than products of current brewers. Searches have led me through trying out every honey beer that was available to a Warsaw shop called “Piwonia”. Rowing Jack had probably the biggest influence on my beer taste. I’ve found him on the forum http://browar.biz (a Polish forum for beer lovers) covered in the pile of positive comments and praises. For the ridiculous price of 7 zl I could experience something unbelievable: richness and strength of his savour. Together with Jack I began my most gripping adventure that granted us one and only attraction: seeking for the best and unknown tastes among bottles of beer.
No doubts that my comrades of never-ending journeys from sobriety to... insobriety had a huge influence on me and my hobby. If they hadn’t come aboard, I’d have probably been less addicted. It might have been a blessing in disguise that we came up with the idea of beer ranking. I don’t really remember who was winning in the first edition but thanks to this “lucky invention” there are about 421 beers on my list. And Jack is always number one.
My name is Łukasz. I’m 20 years old and I REALLY LIKE BEER.
